A Journey of Brotherhood and Excellence

Our Heritage and Legacy

Since its founding in 1904, Pi Kappa Phi has been dedicated to fostering leadership, academic achievement, and a spirit of service among its members. The Iota Nu chapter at Mississippi State University proudly continues this tradition, building on a rich history of brotherhood and making a positive impact on campus and in the community.

National History

Pi Kappa Phi fraternity was founded on December 10, 1904, at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. The three founders, Andrew Alexander Kroeg Jr., Simon Fogarty Jr., and Lawrence Harry Mixson, sought to create a brotherhood that fostered leadership and academic excellence.

In 1977, Pi Kappa Phi founded Push America (now known as Ability Experience), a philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting people with disabilities. This initiative has become a cornerstone of Pi Kappa Phi’s commitment to service and leadership.

Today, Pi Kappa Phi has more than 180 active chapters and colonies across the United States, with over 130,000 initiated members. The fraternity continues to uphold its values of leadership, scholarship, and service.

Iota Nu Chapter History

The Iota Nu chapter of Pi Kappa Phi was established at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, on November 10, 2012. Since its inception, the chapter has been committed to embodying the principles and values of the national fraternity.

The chapter has been recognized for its outstanding contributions to both the university and the local community. We have received several awards for our philanthropic efforts, particularly through The Ability Experience. Members of the Iota Nu chapter have also held significant leadership positions within the university and have been actively involved in various student organizations.

We pride ourselves on fostering a strong sense of brotherhood among our members. Regular social events, leadership workshops, and academic support initiatives help create a close-knit community that supports personal and professional growth.

As the chapter continues to grow, our members remain dedicated to the principles set forth by the founders of Pi Kappa Phi. The chapter strives to make a positive impact on Mississippi State University and the surrounding community through leadership, service, and a commitment to excellence.
